Jul 15th - 31st
14th – 15th July
All four of us are terribly ill with our colds and chest infections so a very low key weekend including all the usual household chores and shopping etc - we wont bore you with the details!
16th – 20th July
Another week of work. The week was broken up for Mike when he went to a product launch on the Gold Coast and got to stay the night at the Sheraton Mirage, very different from the bus that for sure!
21st July - Happy Birthday Nanny (Marg)
We decided to explore some of the city today so we caught the Train into Toowong (yay more public transport) and from there caught a RiverCat Ferry through the city and out to a suburb called Eagle Farm.
The ferry is such a great experience they cruise at around 35knots (70Kms) through all the city area, well worth it especially considering its public transport! They give you a really good perspective of the city - Brisbane reminds us both of Perth just on a much bigger scale and with more of a Melbourne feel for its night life etc.
Took the ferry back to an area called Southbank - the area was built for 'Expo 88' and is really pretty there are some great walk ways that are almost completely covered in Bougainvillea plants, we then had lunch at a Thai restaurant overlooking the river.
After lunch we had a wander around the Southbank market and Mike found some really great drink coasters which had the covers of well known music albums on them, as he is a big Pearl Jam and Pink Floyd fan he got 3 of each band to make a nice set.
When we got home we found that Mark and Darryl had today bought a new car a Toyota Echo so they were very keen to go out for a drive so we went up to Mt Cootha which has a beautiful view over the city and surrounds before we went back into Toowong for dinner at a noodle house - Very Nice!
22nd July
After a lateish start we again took the new Echo for a drive and went to the Ipswich (from here on in shall be known as "The Switch") to check out the markets.
It was a small market but quite a good one Mark managed to get himself some plastic turtles as he is a big turtle fan. Mike was mainly found checking out the cake and jam stalls whilst Bec was hoping on finding some nice new cloths!
We where then treated to the amazing vistas of the Switch township from an elevated position, on top of the towns water tank!
As Bec hadn't found that elusive new top that she needed she convinced us to again go to Riverskanks for another look around! We grabbed a bite to eat before "having a look around", the boys needed to get some stuff for their dogs so we went to a few pet shops before heading home to cook some dinner.

23rd – 27th July
Another fun filled week of work!
Bec's Friday was made a little more interesting with a visit to the local pub for lunch with her new friends from work.
28th July
As the Bec's parents would be here in a couple of weeks Mike decided it was time to hop under the bus and do the service on the bus so he wouldn't be rushed to do it at the last minute plus the bus was conveniently parked on the nice clean area of Mark and Darryl's carport, so he spent the morning doing that while Bec got ready for the Tupperware party she was going to this afternoon with the girls from work.
After arriving at a shopping centre Mike had visited yesterday we realized that the GPS had been incorrectly programmed and we where about 30 minutes from Shelly's. So off we went and Bec was late. Mike dropped her there and then went off for a few hours as he had the job of sorting the GPS out.
The Tupperware party was all very standard with the usual colored bowls etc. The fun started when most guests left and Shelly, Karina and Bec had their own little party before Paulie (Shelly's hubby) and Mark (his mate) as well as Mike arrived. A few drinks were had by most but a bottle and a bit later on an empty stomach and Bec was well and truly ready for home. About an hour later after an interesting drive home with numerous stops the boys where graced with Bec's company for a few minutes before she was showered by Mike and put to bed on the couch.
29th July
Bec woke early with a hangover (no surprises there)!
Mike still had issues with the GPS and needed to go back to JB Hifi as well as South Bank to get some cool coasters for his dad for father’s day so he set off early and alone.
Mark and Darryl where heading off to the Switch markets for a few things so Bec decided to drag herself out of bed and join them. The usual things where seen and purchased and then it was time for coffee!
After Mike got home from South Bank Mark, Mike and Bec headed to RiverSkanks to buy Mike a suitcase to take on his travels this week.
The evening was topped off with ironing and packing - fun, fun!
30th July
It was a very early start for us this morning to get Mike down the train station for 5am to catch the airtrain. (a normal train that goes all the way to the airport) After we said our good byes and Bec returned home Mike realized that he forgot his itinerary and Bec was back down the station.
A few hours later Mike was at the airport and boarding his plane to Perth.
Five hours after that he'd landed in Perth and went to the CBD Ridges to check in.
It was then time to visit the office. Was good to catch up with everyone, it seems like not a lot has changed here and all the boys are still the boys. Had a few beers with them before heading off to have dinner with Shaz and Hev's.
Was great to catch up with the crew, their house is looking really nice, it was good to see that Hev's has become quite the little house wife and could be found in the kitchen peeling potatoes! Had a lovely meal of Osso Bucco all washed down with a couple of Mikes favorite beers. Unfortunately after Mikes big day of early starts and flying etc he was very tired so had to head off back to the hotel.
A great night had by all.
Meanwhile Bec goes to work for a regular day before crying herself to sleep whilst missing her dear husband!!
31st July
Another early start for Mike and what do you know he's back at the airport getting ready to visit his favorite location - Port Hedland!!
Spent the majority of the day in sunny Port Hedland fixing issues with the fire system at the local hospital.
Went back to the airport and ran into an old work mate so had a few bevies with him before yet another flight back to Perth.
A quite night in the hotel.
